The man, the myth, the legend, the...editor of an e-zine?
Hey yo, my name is Paul and I am the webmaster of No Shelter. The jefe, if you will. It is my job, nay, it is my DUTY to bring the latest news on everything that means anything to the being, as human. I am a creative writing major with a minor in communications. Isn't it obvious that I get a kick out of writing? I love music, and I'm into everything from hardcore punk to reggae, ska to classic rock, jazz to Mother Nature's sounds. I am currently obsessed with Black Sabbath. I love to read, and I hope that someday someone else who loves to read will consider one of my books (future books, to be sure) as one of their favorites. I don't consider myself to fit into any political party's ideology, so I call myself the charter member of the National Paul Party, and with any luck we'll take the presidential election of 2004 by storm! PAUL IN 2004!! I am working on my first novel, and I have a ton of ideas bouncing around my cranium. I am an exercise nut, but I'm sure those of you who know me already knew that. I run up to fifteen miles a week, and I do anywhere between 200-500 pushups a day. I am PUMPED so you better watch out! :) |

What's the deal with No Shelter?!?!
No Shelter evolved, over a few years, from originally destined to be a print zine, to an e-zine distributed through email, to a website. Due to costs, the print version was only a pipe dream. The first six issues came out in email form, but with a lack of color and presentation, I felt unsatisfied. Now the first version on a website has arrived, although I wish I had more room! Oh well, I'm sure No Shelter will keep evolving. As far as the content goes, I have never been one to hide my opinions on issues. I try to keep the content broad, and cover much more issues that are relevant to my readers. Sometimes I get the job done effectively, and sometimes I don't, but I always try my hardest. If anything I ever put into this zine offends you, well, all I can say is I'm sorry. I'm sorry if it offends you, but I'm even sorrier to inform you that the format will stay the same. I make no apologies if what you read proves to be too much to bear.
People I know...
First and foremost, to Carol. Thank you for a wonderful 2 year and 8 months!!
To all the people that have restored my faith in the human species, and have made me realize that there is beauty in darkness. Ruben Reyes, Dr. Steve Best, Mike Draper, Elena Combs, Maria Salazar, Kat Untalan, Ana Soler, Adrian Paredes, Rubi Orozco, Kris Johnson, and, of course, to my wonderful family. Each and every one of you have made me ponder the universe, question reality, and have given me strength, and I thank you.
A special dedication goes out to my little brother, Lalo, because he gives me something more valuable than gold: the exuberance of youth. Through him, I can experience that which I was robbed of, and because of him I can laugh and forget my worries for a moment. You rock, Bubbas!
Here's a shout-out to a man whom I have never met in my life: Mumia Abu-Jamal. Mumia, you have given me inspiration and have set an example of the magic of journalism. I am forever in debt to you for this, and I hope that one day you may feel the sun on your back, indulge in the sweet taste of freedom, and be reunited with those that care for you.
Here's a special message to those that have chosen to hold me down, or to attempt to wreck my spirit: you will not win. I have dealt with my demons in my own way, and through the muck and the mire I have risen to a place where the dark shadows cannot touch me anymore. I have let go of the issues that haunted me in the past, and I can finally say that I am both happy and content with myself, so BUZZ OFF!
